Yeah, the U.S. is weird right now and generally not great. Same for TikTok, same for Instagram. I honestly hate it all, but still feel a desire to express myself so here I am, talking about clothing in an American autocoup. Late stage at its finest.
What I’m wearing and why:
My friend Molly and I were recently discussing the layered t-shirt thing that’s been happening in fashion, and how it harkens back to ‘90s nostalgia with comfy fabrics and an iconoclastic mindset. I love how that juxtaposes (sorry) with high-end fabrics and sometimes intentionally bad silhouettes. Still Here does a “bad” silhouette really well—e.g. their sweatshirts and tee’s have the perfect boxy little boy cut. (They also have a denim fit called “Childhood” which is just plain good copywriting.)
Another friend, Ashley, who endlessly inspires me sartorially does this so well. She dresses in high-end pieces and styles them in a way that’s just “off” enough to give them a little bit of a metal feel, some rebellion in The Row.
The worse things get outside of my four walls, the more I want to rebel in my own way—to stop dressing in norms, remove all complication from my clothing. It’s my personal hemline index—going back to the basics and simplicity* as a way of saying "I'm not playing your game" even if…I clearly am by existing in and working to promote a capitalist society. C’est la vie (or c’est la tee, amIright ladies?!?!?!).
Jeans and long sleeves, hair down and straight. It feels right in my mid-February, shit-hitting-the-fan mindset. I wish you the same peace in your approach to dressing.
*Simplicity, not minimalism. They are different things.

Still Here 2Tee in Milk ($135), Agolde Kelly Jean ($228), my boots are old Suzanne Rae but these are the Aeyde Black Allegra Boot ($545 $491), the cat in the bottom left hand corner is not for sale
Three beauty products I’m using right now:
If you’re not already using them, Dieux and Tower28’s hero products are worth the hype (also: affordable). Make’s Lip Reset is one of my favorite things this/last year–I use it at night and during the day. The red tint would be lovely on all skin tones.

Dieux skin instant angel moisturizer ($45), Tower28 sos spray ($28), Make Beauty lip reset ($28)
One organization to focus on this week:
Lawyers for Good Government: Pro-bono lawyers looking to defend the Constitution which is a crazy sentence to type. (BTW, here’s how they define “good.”)
Thanks for being here,
Robin
